Kenya’s Deputy President Kithure Kindiki opened the Huawei-backed LEAP Job Fair 2025 at the University of Nairobi, saying the government is deepening partnerships with global technology firms to expand employment, training and mentorship opportunities for young people. He told participants that technology will be central to solving economic challenges and highlighted Africa’s demographic advantage, noting the continent’s average age of 19 years. Kindiki added that youth unemployment is the country’s most acute challenge and called for stronger public-private collaboration to unlock digital jobs and up-skill workers. Speaking later in Lamu, he urged young Kenyans to resolve grievances through dialogue rather than street protests, arguing that peaceful engagement is essential for sustained development.
