
Coupang Inc. reported fourth-quarter 2024 earnings, showcasing a 21% year-over-year revenue growth to $8 billion, slightly below the $8.08 billion consensus estimate. The company achieved a diluted EPS of $0.08, surpassing the $0.01 estimate, and an adjusted EBITDA of $421 million, a 43% increase from the prior year. Operating income reached $312 million, significantly exceeding the $167.8 million estimate. The South Korean e-commerce giant also reported a gross profit of $2.5 billion, reflecting a 48% year-over-year increase, with gross margins improving by 570 basis points to 31.3%. Active customers in its Product Commerce segment grew 10% to 22.8 million, while revenue from its Developing Offerings surged 296% to $1.1 billion. Revenue growth on an FX-neutral basis was 41.3%. For the full year, Coupang's revenue exceeded 41 trillion KRW ($30.3 billion), marking a 29% annual increase. This milestone positions Coupang as a dominant force in the South Korean e-commerce market, surpassing competitors like Naver and traditional retail giants such as Shinsegae and Lotte Shopping. Coupang's strategic investments in logistics, including its Rocket Delivery service, and its international expansion into Taiwan contributed to its robust growth. Additionally, its acquisition of luxury platform Farfetch, which achieved a $418 million EBITDA turnaround, played a key role in boosting revenue and achieving profitability in the luxury e-commerce segment. Coupang's stock rose over 5% in after-hours trading following the earnings announcement.
