U.S. President Donald Trump met with South Korean President Lee on 25 Aug. in Washington, describing the encounter as an “honor” and saying the two leaders will hold “very serious discussions” on trade and other issues. Trump told reporters that the agenda also covered the long-running dispute over wartime ‘comfort women’. He characterized the matter as a major concern for Seoul, adding that Tokyo prefers to move on while Korea remains focused on resolving the issue.
Trump: "The whole issue of the women. Comfort women. Very specifically. We talked and that was a very big problem for Korea, not for Japan. Japan was, wanted to go, they want to get on. But Korea was very stuck on that." https://t.co/a3fj4Metch
