Barclays Bank PLC has agreed to pay $4 million to settle charges related to swap reporting violations, according to the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The charges pertain to failures in accurately reporting swap transactions. Additionally, three other swaps market participants have agreed to pay more than $2 million combined in settlements for related violations. The settlements have drawn criticism from one CFTC commissioner. This follows a broader enforcement effort by the CFTC, which also ordered Tradition SEF LLC to pay $875,000 for system safeguards violations and failing to provide records promptly during an examination. Reuters reported that the settlements were announced on Tuesday.
