U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has initiated deportation proceedings against Roland Mehrez Beainy, the 28-year-old Lebanese founder of the Trump Burger restaurant chain in Texas. Agents arrested Beainy on 16 May for allegedly overstaying the visitor visa he received in 2019; he was released on bond on 13 June pending further action. According to the Department of Homeland Security, Beainy remained in the country after his visa lapsed on 12 February 2024 and attempted to secure legal status through what officials call a “sham” marriage. The agency also cites a prior assault charge and what it describes as a history of immigration-related fraud. Beainy has rejected the accusations, telling local media that “90 percent” of them are untrue. Beainy opened the first Trump Burger outlet in Bellville in 2020 and has since expanded to at least three additional Texas locations in Houston, Flatonia and Kemah. The restaurants feature burgers stamped with the word “TRUMP” and décor promoting the former president. The entrepreneur is dealing with separate legal challenges. In February, the Trump Organization sent a cease-and-desist letter accusing the chain of infringing its trademarks, and a landlord dispute in Kemah has led to dueling lawsuits. Beainy’s immigration case is scheduled for a court hearing on 18 November, where a judge will decide whether he will be removed from the United States.
