🇺🇸 JUST IN: The U.S. Treasury has removed crypto broker reporting requirements, according to Bloomberg. https://t.co/Ba7Ndj6IOo
The U.S. Treasury Department has scrapped reporting requirements that applied to cryptocurrency brokers, Bloomberg reported on 10 July. The rules, introduced to capture transaction data from digital-asset intermediaries, are no longer in force, effectively lifting federal obligations for exchanges and other brokerages to file detailed customer information. The reversal marks a significant regulatory shift for the U.S. crypto industry, which had argued that the mandates were burdensome and ill-suited to decentralized technologies. Treasury officials did not immediately issue a public statement on the reasons for the policy change or outline any replacement framework.
