UBS Group has reached a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice to resolve a legacy matter stemming from its acquisition of Credit Suisse. The Swiss bank agreed to pay $300 million to settle outstanding obligations related to the misselling of residential mortgage-backed securities by Credit Suisse in the United States. This settlement addresses issues tied to a 2017 DOJ deal concerning mortgage bonds sold prior to the 2008 financial crisis. UBS indicated that this resolution will allow it to book a credit in its third-quarter financial results. The agreement closes another legacy case inherited by UBS following its takeover of Credit Suisse. UBS also recently published its second-quarter 2025 financial report.
