Wealth management revenue was $7.76 billion, and equities sales and trading revenue was $3.72 billion, both exceeding estimates. However, provisions for credit losses were $196 million, above the expected $130.8 million. Goldman Sachs posted Q2 EPS of $10.91, beating the estimated $9.77, and revenue of $14.58 billion, surpassing the $13.53 billion forecast. The bank's return on equity was 12.8%, and it raised its quarterly dividend to $4 per share for Q3. American Express reported Q2 revenue of $17.86 billion and EPS of $4.08, both exceeding estimates. Card member spending reached a record $416.3 billion, up 7% year-over-year. The company reaffirmed its full-year EPS guidance between $15 and $15.50 and revenue growth of 8% to 10%. The increase in revenue was driven by a 20% jump in card fees, despite a slight decline in net income to $2.89 billion from $3.02 billion a year earlier. Provisions for credit losses increased as well. Overall, major U.S. banks reported better-than-expected earnings for the second quarter of 2025, supported by strong revenue growth, trading performance, and consumer spending.
