Base, the Ethereum layer-2 network developed by Coinbase, has announced ambitious goals for 2025, aiming to secure $100 billion in on-chain assets, onboard 25 million users, and attract 25,000 developers by October 2025. The network also plans to process 1 billion transactions and scale its blockspace capacity to 250 million gas units per second. Backed by Coinbase, Base has rapidly grown to become the most widely adopted layer-2 solution, accounting for over 60% of all Ethereum layer-2 transactions. It achieved a 4514% transaction growth over the past year and processed 11.25 million transactions in a single day. Weekly active addresses on Base surpassed 10 million, and the network has a 5x throughput advantage over other layer-2 solutions. Monthly profits have quadrupled since September, and Worldcoin activity reached 14.4 million. Base’s strategy includes fostering innovation in decentralized applications, enhancing user experiences, and expanding its ecosystem. The network has no plans to introduce a native token and remains focused on providing tools for developers to address real-world challenges.
