Between July 28 and August 2, 2025, substantial Bitcoin (BTC) transactions totaling tens of thousands of BTC and valued in the billions of US dollars were recorded moving between unknown wallets and major cryptocurrency exchanges including Coinbase Institutional, Kraken, and BitGet. Notably, multiple dormant Bitcoin addresses, some inactive for over 12 years, were reactivated, releasing BTC valued between $5.9 million and $40.4 million. On July 31, a dormant address holding 50 BTC was activated after 15.3 years. On August 1, a 306 BTC wallet worth approximately $35.2 million moved funds for the first time in 12.4 years, marking a significant event in Bitcoin's on-chain activity. July 2025 saw a record $9.69 billion in old Bitcoin spent, involving 83,865 BTC from over 2,000 wallets dating back to 2011 and 2013, with some 2013 wallets appreciating over 163,000%. In addition to Bitcoin, large transfers of other cryptocurrencies were observed, including 16.7 million XRP ($50.3 million) to Coinbase, and two massive XRP transfers totaling 500 million XRP (approximately $1.48 billion) to Ripple. Ethereum (ETH) activity included a transfer of nearly 15,000 ETH ($52.3 million) from Galaxy Digital to a new wallet and a subsequent transfer of 16,495 ETH ($58.5 million) to the same wallet, bringing its total holdings to 79,461 ETH valued at $277.9 million. Furthermore, a user identified as SharpLinkGaming spent over 108 million USDC to purchase 14,933 ETH ($52.6 million), now holding 464,209 ETH worth $1.63 billion. These movements highlight heightened activity and liquidity shifts across multiple major cryptocurrencies and exchanges in this period.
