The Ethereum blockchain has seen a significant increase in stablecoin activity, with over $130 billion now tokenized on the platform. This growth is driven by Ethereum's low-cost layer-2 solutions like Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, and Polygon, which are capturing the majority of stablecoin payment volume. The stablecoin market cap on Ethereum has grown dramatically, increasing by a factor of 1,000,000 since Ethereum first reached a price of $1,400. From January 2021, when the total stablecoin supply on Ethereum was $22 billion, it has surged to $123 billion, marking a more than fivefold increase in just over four years. In the past 30 days, Ethereum processed a record-breaking $1.18 trillion in stablecoin transfers, doubling the volume seen in October 2024. Additionally, Circle's EURC stablecoin supply on Ethereum has risen by 211.9% since the start of the year. The tokenization of real-world assets (RWAs) on Ethereum and its layer-2 solutions is also on the rise, with the market surpassing $20 billion in on-chain value. Notable contributors include BlackRock’s BUIDL fund, valued at $2.3 billion, and other major financial institutions like Franklin Templeton and WisdomTree, which are building on platforms like Arbitrum One. The tokenization market is expected to reach $50 billion by 2025, with significant growth in tokenized US Treasuries at $4 billion and private credit at $12.2 billion in total value locked (TVL). Fasset's 'Own' layer-2 solution is designed to facilitate the distribution of regulated assets like Apple, Nvidia, and Tesla stocks. A recent report by Ripple and BCG highlights the rapid expansion of tokenized financial assets, projecting a total value of $6 trillion this year and nearly $19 trillion by 2033.
