The Exchange ETF conference, held in Las Vegas, attracted around 2,000 asset managers and investment advisors to discuss the latest trends in the ETF industry. Key topics at the conference included strong inflows into fixed income, particularly ultrashort funds, as well as interest in private equity and private credit, bitcoin, active management, and leverage/inverse ETFs. Attendees also enjoyed a performance by Dead & Co. at the Sphere on Saturday night. Notable speakers at the event included Ben Johnson from Morningstar, Ben Slavin from BNY Mellon, Jay Jacobs from BlackRock, and Travis Spence from JP Morgan, who discussed the latest trends in ETF investing. Eric Balchunas from Bloomberg provided insights into what to expect from the conference, highlighting the gathering of ETF investors to discuss industry developments. A crypto ETF panel at the conference featured Eric Balchunas moderating a discussion with Matt Kaufman from Calamos and Samir Kerbage from Hashdex, drawing a packed audience. The panel likely focused on the growth potential of crypto index funds, especially in light of recent announcements regarding Trump Media's intent to launch ETF crypto baskets in partnership with Crypto.com. ETF flows year to date showed $135 billion into equities, $92 billion into fixed income, with $40 billion specifically into ultrashort fixed income funds, and $8 billion into precious metals.
