The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has acknowledged a filing from Cboe BZX Exchange on behalf of 21Shares to permit staking for the 21Shares Core Ethereum ETF. This development, announced on February 20, 2025, could pave the way for the inclusion of staking in exchange-traded funds (ETFs), potentially enhancing the yield opportunities for investors. The acknowledgment follows a 19b-4 filing and has been met with optimism in the cryptocurrency community, as it may lead to broader acceptance of staking in digital asset ETFs. Several U.S. senators are also urging the SEC to reconsider its stance on staking in crypto ETFs to maintain competitiveness in the digital asset market.
