Israel said on Thursday it has secured the return of Salah Abu-Hussein, an Israeli citizen who had been imprisoned in Lebanon for roughly a year. The Prime Minister’s Office, speaking for the government coordinator for hostages and missing persons, confirmed that Abu-Hussein crossed back into Israel in the afternoon via the Ras Naqoura border crossing. The handover followed about two months of negotiations between Israeli and Lebanese officials, conducted with the assistance of the International Committee of the Red Cross. Authorities did not disclose the terms of the agreement or the circumstances of Abu-Hussein’s original detention, but thanked the Red Cross for its role. No information was released on whether further talks are planned or if other detainees remain in Lebanese custody.
