Calls are intensifying for UEFA and FIFA to suspend Israel from international football competitions in response to the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The controversy escalated after the UEFA Super Cup opening ceremony featured children from Gaza displaying a banner calling for an end to war, which sparked widespread social media demands for Israel's expulsion, citing alleged war crimes and the deaths of athletes in Gaza. The Italian Association of Football Coaches (AIAC) has formally urged the Italian Soccer Federation to forward a letter to UEFA and FIFA requesting Israel's suspension. This appeal comes ahead of Italy's crucial World Cup qualifying matches against Israel, scheduled to be played on neutral ground in Debrecen, Hungary, on September 8, and in Udine, Italy, on October 14. AIAC Vice President Giancarlo Camolese emphasized the moral stance of Italian coaches, stating that ignoring the situation is not right. Additionally, the Norwegian Football Federation announced plans to donate profits from its upcoming match against Israel to Gaza aid efforts. Meanwhile, football clubs such as Spain's Rayo Vallecano and Turkey's Fenerbahçe have shown solidarity with Palestine through public displays during matches.
