Pete Crow-Armstrong drilled a tiebreaking home run in the ninth inning to lift the Chicago Cubs over the Los Angeles Angels 3-2 on Friday night in Anaheim, giving the Cubs a 1-0 edge in the three-game series. Kyle Tucker, back in the lineup after missing time with a hand fracture and a three-game reset, homered for the first time since July 19. The outfielder’s solo shot and Crow-Armstrong’s late blast helped Chicago open its nine-game West Coast trip with a victory. The Cubs improved to 74-55, remaining second in the National League Central, while the Angels fell to 61-67 and fourth in the American League West. Chicago is 38-11 when hitting at least two home runs. The clubs meet again Saturday night, with rookie right-hander Cade Horton scheduled to face Los Angeles’ Victor Mederos.
