The Los Angeles Dodgers have plunged into their worst stretch of the season, dropping six straight games after suffering back-to-back three-game sweeps by the Houston Astros and the Milwaukee Brewers. The skid, their longest since April 2019, leaves the National League West leaders at 56-38 and having scored just 11 runs during the slide. Houston opened the downturn by routing Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium, punctuating a 5-1 victory on 6 July that completed the Astros’ first sweep in Chavez Ravine since 2008. Houston outscored the Dodgers 29-6 over the series, only the second time this year Los Angeles has been swept at home. Milwaukee compounded the Dodgers’ woes three days later. Rookie outfielder Jackson Chourio lined a single through a drawn-in infield to give the Brewers a 3-2, 10-inning walk-off win at American Family Field, sealing the club’s first ever home sweep of Los Angeles. Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow, activated earlier in the day after more than two months on the injured list, limited Milwaukee to one unearned run over five innings but departed without support. The Dodgers head to San Francisco on Friday looking to halt the slide.
The Brewers' only two previous sweeps of the Dodgers came at Los Angeles, in May 2012 and August 2017. The NL West-leading Dodgers have lost six straight. https://t.co/vvXpgboTkb
