The New York Yankees erased a 5–0 deficit and a potential no-hitter to defeat the Seattle Mariners 6–5 in 10 innings at Yankee Stadium late Thursday, completing a three-game sweep. Seattle rookie right-hander Bryan Woo baffled New York for seven innings, retiring the first 21 batters before Jazz Chisholm Jr. led off the eighth with a single to end the no-hit bid. Woo left after allowing two hits and three runs, settling for a no-decision. The Yankees’ comeback began moments later when Giancarlo Stanton, pinch-hitting, launched a two-run homer to pull the hosts within 5–3. Austin Wells delivered a two-out, two-strike, two-run single in the ninth off closer Andrés Muñoz to tie the game. In the 10th, Aaron Judge lifted a sacrifice fly to deep center that plated Anthony Volpe with the winning run. The victory made New York the first major-league club since 24 June 1977 to win a game in which it was hitless and trailed by at least five runs entering the eighth inning.
