National League right-hander Paul Skenes opened the 2025 Major League Baseball All-Star Game by retiring the American League in order, becoming the first pitcher in MLB history to start the midsummer showcase in each of his first two seasons. Working exclusively with four-seam fastballs that touched 100 mph, the 22-year-old struck out two of the three hitters he faced, including New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, on 14 pitches. The performance followed his All-Star debut start last year, when he also drew the assignment as a rookie.
