French composer Alexandre Desplat made his Hollywood Bowl debut on 15 July, leading the Los Angeles Philharmonic in a program devoted to his film music. The one-night engagement marked the first time the two-time Oscar winner has appeared at the landmark open-air venue. Desplat conducted suites from several of his most recognisable scores, including the 2014 blockbuster "Godzilla," the Academy Award-winning soundtrack to Wes Anderson’s "The Grand Budapest Hotel," and his recent work for "Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio." The concert adds to the Bowl’s tradition of spotlighting contemporary film composers while broadening Desplat’s presence on the U.S. symphonic circuit.
