Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and his press secretary on Friday dismissed an online playlist circulating under his name as a fabrication, saying it does not reflect the governor’s music preferences. Press secretary Bryan Griffin said the governor’s tastes span classic country artists such as George Strait and Waylon Jennings and 1980s metal bands like Metallica and Guns N’ Roses—acts missing from the purported playlist. Griffin added that while DeSantis approves of performers including Johnny Cash, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra, he would not endorse a list that excluded key country and metal staples. DeSantis subsequently volunteered several of his favorite full-length albums, citing Guns N’ Roses’ 1987 debut “Appetite for Destruction” and Metallica’s 1986 release “Master of Puppets” as enduring favorites from his formative years.
