The animated Netflix film "KPop Demon Hunters" and its soundtrack have achieved notable chart success. The fictional K-pop girl group HUNTR/X's song "Golden," featured in the film, reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, marking the first time a female K-pop group has topped the chart. "Golden" also became the first number one song from a film since the "Encanto" cast's "We Don't Talk About Bruno." The track has maintained the number one position on the Billboard Global charts for four weeks and led the United World Chart for three weeks. "Golden" surpassed NewJeans' "Ditto" to become the song with the most "Perfect All-Kills" in history. The song drew 31.7 million official streams, up 9%, and an 8.4 million radio airplay audience. Additionally, other songs from the film, including "Your Idol," "What It Sounds Like," and "Takedown," have achieved new peak positions on the Billboard Hot 100. Since its release in June, "KPop Demon Hunters" has become Netflix's most-watched animated film. Netflix announced a limited theatrical release of the film for one weekend later in August, including special sing-along screenings. Industry analysts predict that "Golden" could be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song, with the film also a contender for Best Animated Feature. HUNTR/X is noted as the third fictional animated band to top the charts, a feat last seen in 1969. The group's number one on the Hot 100 is the first by a girl group since Destiny's Child's "Bootylicious" 24 years ago.
