MTV has released the first slate of performers for the 2025 Video Music Awards, confirming appearances by pop star Sabrina Carpenter, YouTuber-turned-singer Alex Warren, alternative artist Sombr, hip-hop veteran Busta Rhymes, Latin hitmaker J Balvin with producer DJ Snake, and crossover pioneer Ricky Martin. The ceremony will be broadcast live on 7 September from UBS Arena in New York and hosted by LL COOL J. Carpenter, who is up for eight Moon Person trophies including Video of the Year for “Manchild,” returns after winning Song of the Year in 2024. Warren and Sombr are both shortlisted for Best New Artist. Organisers said Busta Rhymes will receive the Rock the Bells Visionary Award, while Martin will be honoured with the inaugural Latin Icon Award marking 26 years since his breakout VMA performance. Additional performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks.
