Oasis guitarist and songwriter Noel Gallagher has offered an unusually warm public assessment of his brother and band-mate Liam, saying the singer is “smashing it” on the group’s sold-out reunion tour and adding, “I’m proud of him.” Gallagher’s remarks, made during a 19 August appearance on Britain’s TalkSPORT radio, were his first extended comments since the band re-formed last year after a 15-year estrangement. Gallagher, 58, told the programme he was “completely blown away” by the reception to the shows and admitted he had “grossly underestimated” the scale of the undertaking, recalling that his “legs turned to jelly” midway through the second song at the opening concert. Calling the experience “an amazing thing,” he added that returning to the stage with Liam had reminded him “how funny he is.” The brothers launched the 41-date Live ’25 tour on 4 July in Cardiff and have since played stadiums in Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin. The North American leg starts on 24 August in Toronto, with further stops in Chicago, New Jersey and Pasadena before the tour moves on to Latin America, Asia and Australia and concludes on 23 November in São Paulo. Noel’s praise marks a striking change in tone for the famously fractious siblings, whose on-stage fight at the Rock en Seine festival in 2009 triggered Oasis’s breakup. Industry observers say the open show of unity eases concerns that their long-running feud could again derail one of the year’s most lucrative rock tours.
