The National Weather Service issued a series of flash-flood warnings on 3 July for the Tucson metropolitan area as severe thunderstorms swept across southern Arizona. Alerts cover Picture Rocks, Summit, Catalina Foothills, Casas Adobes and Flowing Wells and remain in effect until 4:45 p.m. Mountain Standard Time. Forecasters said heavy rainfall from the storms is already producing flash flooding and urged residents to avoid driving on closed or water-covered roads. Additional advisories will be issued if conditions worsen, the agency added.
