The National Weather Service issued a flash-flood warning for metropolitan Atlanta after intense thunderstorms dropped 3–6 inches (7.6–15.2 cm) of rain on Wednesday night. Forecasters said an additional 1–3 inches could fall before daybreak on Thursday, raising the risk of rapid inundation of streets, low-lying neighborhoods and creeks already running high.
