A series of Red Flag Warnings and Fire Weather Watches have been issued across California and parts of the western United States due to ongoing hot, dry, and windy conditions that elevate wildfire risks. From June 21 to June 22, warnings covered portions of California's Valley, Delta, Coastal Range below 3,000 feet, the Antelope Valley, and the Interstate 5 corridor, with gusty north to northwesterly winds reaching 40 to 60 mph and low relative humidity. Southern Nevada also experienced a Red Flag Warning through the weekend due to similar conditions. Elevated fire weather conditions persisted into late June and early July in Northern California, particularly in the northern Sacramento Valley, northern Coast Range, Shasta County mountains, southern Cascades, and Burney Basin, where isolated to scattered thunderstorms posed additional risks of lightning-induced fires. These warnings extended into early July, with advisories to avoid activities that could spark fires, obey burn bans, and follow evacuation orders. Northern Utah and parts of the interior Northwest and Great Basin also faced Red Flag Warnings in early to mid-July, with gusty winds, low humidity, and dry thunderstorms contributing to critical fire weather conditions. State agencies, including Cal OES and CAL FIRE, emphasized the importance of fire safety practices and preparedness, urging residents to stay alert and have emergency plans in place.
