A series of time-lapse videos have captured the rapid and devastating flooding of the Llano River in Kingsland, Texas, during the July 4 holiday. The footage shows the river swelling and floodwaters rising dramatically within minutes, with some videos documenting a rise of over 20 feet in as little as 37 minutes and another showing a 26-foot increase in 45 minutes. The floodwaters engulfed roads, homes, and vehicles, forcing authorities to block off affected areas in under 10 minutes. The flash flooding, triggered by heavy rain, has resulted in at least 68 fatalities, including 21 children, with the death toll later reported to have climbed to over 100. The videos highlight the speed and severity of the floodwaters as they transformed the Llano River from a calm waterway into a wall of water, causing widespread destruction and loss of life in central Texas.
