New York State Assembly member Zohran Kwame Mamdani is facing renewed accusations of antisemitism after posting a Hanukkah-themed comedy video in which he and an Indian sketch troupe don faux Hasidic garb, spin dreidels and light a menorah. The clip, released during the Jewish festival’s first night, was presented by the comedians as a light-hearted holiday skit. The advocacy group StopAntisemites and several commentators said the portrayal trivialised Jewish religious symbols and was insensitive given Mamdani’s prior criticism of Israeli policy. Others defended the assembly member, arguing the video was benign satire comparable to the troupe’s past parodies of Christmas songs. Mamdani has not publicly responded to the complaints.
"Cosplaying Jews" and it's just Sikhs dancing Of course no tweets about Trump comments https://t.co/8PXMtcpEqo
Zohran Mamdani posts Indian men cosplaying Jews, spinning dreidels and lighting the menorah. Our holidays and traditions are sacred and not for your comedic pleasure @ZohranKMamdani - this is sick. https://t.co/iOn4LFftjX
As far as I'm concerned, if a NON-anti-Semite does this, it's fine (and perhaps even a fun tribute). But THIS piece of shit, anti-"cultural appropriation" warrior is a NOTORIOUS anti-Semite, which makes THIS the equivalent of the KKK wearing Blackface and doing a minstrel show. https://t.co/57A9ExaOYC
