Tether Treasury created an additional $1 billion worth of its USDT stablecoin on the Ethereum blockchain on Aug. 15, according to on-chain transaction data tracked by multiple analytics services. The latest issuance adds to a wave of stablecoin creation. Blockchain researcher Lookonchain calculates that Tether and rival issuer Circle have minted a combined $9.5 billion in USDT and USDC over the past month, reflecting renewed demand for dollar-pegged tokens used to move funds quickly across digital-asset markets. Tether has said in previous statements that freshly minted tokens are held in treasury wallets as authorized but unissued inventory until they are released to customers. The company’s USDT remains the world’s largest stablecoin by market value, and its growing supply is closely watched as a gauge of liquidity conditions in the broader cryptocurrency market.
