The Miami Dolphins have reached agreement with veteran cornerback Rasul Douglas on a one-year contract worth about $3 million, according to multiple reports confirmed on Tuesday. Douglas, who turns 31 later this week, gives Miami an experienced starter as the club finalises its 53-man roster ahead of the NFL’s cut-down deadline. Douglas has appeared in 80 regular-season starts across eight seasons with the Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers, Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers, registering 19 interceptions. He started 15 games for Buffalo last year, though opposing quarterbacks posted a 122 passer rating against him, the highest of his career. Adding Douglas addresses a position that thinned out after Miami released Kendall Fuller, traded former All-Pro Jalen Ramsey to the Pittsburgh Steelers and lost Kader Kohou to a season-ending knee injury during training camp. The Dolphins had signed Jack Jones and other stop-gaps in recent weeks but still lacked a proven outside cornerback. Douglas is expected to compete for a starting role when the team opens the regular season next month.
