Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has accepted a six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, according to multiple reports. The discipline stems from Rice’s role in a March 2024 multi-car crash in Dallas; the 24-year-old pleaded guilty on July 17 to two third-degree felony counts—collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway—receiving 30 days in jail, five years’ deferred probation and paying about $115,000 in restitution. The ban sidelines Rice for the Chiefs’ first six contests, including the season opener in Brazil against the Los Angeles Chargers and a Week 2 Super Bowl rematch with the Philadelphia Eagles. He will be eligible to return in Week 7, when Kansas City hosts the Las Vegas Raiders, once the NFL and NFLPA finalize the settlement. In a separate disciplinary action, the league suspended San Francisco 49ers receiver Demarcus Robinson three games without pay for violating its policy on substances of abuse following a November 2024 DUI arrest. Robinson pleaded no contest on July 10, was placed on three years’ probation, fined $390 and ordered to complete an alcohol-education program. He can rejoin the team on Sept. 22 after the 49ers’ Week 3 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. The twin suspensions force both 2024 conference finalists to adjust their depth charts ahead of final roster cuts. Kansas City faces an early gauntlet that also includes games against the Giants, Ravens, Jaguars and Lions, while San Francisco must compensate for Robinson’s absence amid existing injuries in its receiving corps.
