The Miami Dolphins closed out the preseason with a 14–6 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday night. Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, limited to three drives, finished 4-of-8 for 49 yards and delivered a 25-yard touchdown pass to rookie slot receiver Malik Washington, then connected with tight end Pharaoh Brown for a two-point conversion. Miami’s defense, sparked by sacks from edge rusher Chop Robinson and the duo of Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips, held Jacksonville’s reserves to two field goals. Special-teams depth became a concern when veteran kicker Jason Sanders left warm-ups with a trainer and did not play; punter Jake Bailey missed a field-goal attempt in his place. Head coach Mike McDaniel said he will address Sanders’ status and other minor injuries ahead of Tuesday’s league-wide roster cuts, when the Dolphins must trim to 53 players. The win sends Miami into Week 1 at 2-1 in the exhibition slate, while the Jaguars finish 1-2.
