Yuga Labs has announced a significant shift in its marketplace strategy, revealing that its partnership with Magic Eden for the launch of an Ethereum marketplace will go live tomorrow. This move comes with a decisive policy change where Yuga Labs will cease support for any marketplaces that do not implement royalty payments for all creators, starting tomorrow. This policy aims to ensure that creators receive royalties from sales, a practice not universally supported across NFT marketplaces. The decision to focus on Magic Eden as its primary marketplace partner underlines Yuga Labs' commitment to creator royalties. Additionally, Yuga Labs will block non-royalty-enforcing marketplaces for most of their collections, excluding those with immutable contracts such as BAYC, MAYC, BAKC, Punks, Meebits, Moonbirds, and Oddities, leaving Kodas, Otherdeeds, and many more affected. This move has been described as a significant win for Magic Eden and a loss for competitors like OpenSea, Blur, and LooksRare.
