Azerbaijan and Pakistan concluded investment agreements worth $2 billion on 4 July, aiming to expand economic cooperation across multiple sectors. The deal was formalised on the sidelines of the Economic Cooperation Organisation summit in Khankendi, Azerbaijan. The signing followed a bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Ilham Aliyev. Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov executed the documents, with both leaders witnessing the ceremony. According to official statements, a more detailed accord will be finalised during President Aliyev’s planned visit to Pakistan later this year. The agreement deepens ties between the two predominantly Muslim nations, which have strengthened defence links and political alignment in recent months.
