FIFA President Gianni Infantino accepted an invitation from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to visit Pakistan, following their meeting where they discussed the growing popularity and potential of football in the country. This engagement was part of broader interactions at the FIFA Executive Summit 2025 in Miami, where Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) President Mohsen Gilani also met with FIFA and AFC officials, including Mattias Grafström, Arsene Wenger, and AFC President Shaikh Salman, to secure support for grassroots football development in Pakistan. Separately, Mohsin Naqvi chaired the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) annual meeting in Dhaka, focusing on cricket development in Asia. The 2025 Asia Cup is scheduled to be held in the United Arab Emirates in September, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi as host cities. However, there remains uncertainty regarding the hosting arrangements due to the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) stance. Discussions between the PCB and BCCI are ongoing to finalize the Asia Cup schedule, with hopes expressed that the issues will be resolved soon. The tri-nation series involving Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the UAE is also in its final stages of planning. The ACC emphasized the importance of collaboration among member countries to promote cricket in the region, with Naqvi urging stakeholders to set aside differences for the sport's advancement.
