The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) of Pakistan has approved a 50 percent increase in fixed gas charges for domestic consumers, effective from July 1, 2025. The fixed charges for the protected category of domestic consumers have been raised from Rs400 to Rs600. For monthly gas consumption up to 1.5 hm3, fixed charges have increased from Rs1,000 to Rs1,500, while for consumption exceeding 1.5 hm3, charges have been raised to Rs3,000. The government has also announced a substantial increase in petroleum product prices for the next 15 days. Petrol prices have been increased by Rs8.36 to Rs266.79 per liter, while diesel prices have risen by Rs10 to Rs272.98 per liter. Additionally, a carbon levy of Rs2.50 has been imposed on the new petroleum prices.
