Beware of impersonators and scams! I don't send private messages to sell things. This is ridiculous from X, you have AI to make funny pictures but cannot detect copycats with AI? The technology to do so existed in 2010. @elonmusk https://t.co/3q9qOv97DP

Reports of impersonation and scam activities on social media platforms, including Telegram and Twitter, are on the rise. Several organizations and individuals, including Taisu Ventures, BitDoctorAI, and prominent figures like PlanB, have warned users about fake accounts pretending to represent them. These impersonators often attempt to deceive users into joining fraudulent groups or sharing sensitive information. PlanB has clarified that they are not on Telegram and advised users to block and report fake accounts. Scammers are also exploiting job seekers through fake job postings, side hustle scams, and ghost jobs. According to a Greenhouse report, as many as one in five online job postings are ghost jobs, where companies have no intention of filling the positions. Additionally, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has noted a significant increase in task scams, with over 20,000 reported in the first half of 2024. Many of these scams involve vague job descriptions, unsolicited offers, and requests for upfront payments or personal information. In one instance, scammers have been offering 'pregnancy jobs' on Facebook, targeting individuals with promises of easy money. Experts advise users to verify the legitimacy of job offers, avoid sharing personal information, and report suspicious activities to relevant authorities or platforms. With 70% of employed individuals considering new jobs, vigilance is crucial to avoid falling victim to these scams.
