U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said on Saturday it had referred Connecticut state lawmaker Corey Paris to the Justice Department for possible criminal prosecution after the Democrat publicized what the agency described as agents’ live operational location on social media. Paris wrote on Instagram on Aug. 15 that he had learned of "multiple reports of ICE activity within our district" and urged residents to share any additional information with local advocacy groups, according to screenshots of the now-expired story. ICE contends the post exposed the whereabouts of its officers and could have impeded an ongoing enforcement action. A referral to the DOJ does not in itself constitute criminal charges. The Justice Department did not immediately comment on whether it would open an investigation. Paris, who represents Stamford’s 145th District in the Connecticut House, has not publicly responded to the referral.
