A federal judge, Matthew Kacsmaryk, has granted a preliminary injunction against the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) rule defining firearms dealers, which required a license for anyone engaging in a single firearm transaction. The injunction prevents the ATF from enforcing this rule against members of the Gun Owners of America (GOA), Tennessee Firearms Association (TFA), Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL), and residents of Texas, Utah, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton praised the decision, stating that it protects Second Amendment rights and prevents the criminalization of private gun sales. The ruling also expands a previous temporary restraining order and recognizes severe flaws in the rule. Additionally, the ATF's pistol brace rule has been vacated nationwide, marking another significant legal victory for gun rights advocates.
