President Donald Trump on Wednesday called for billionaire financier George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, to face charges under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump claimed the pair had supported “violent protests” nationwide and warned, “Be careful, we’re watching you.” George Soros, 95, has long funded progressive political causes, while Alex Soros, 39, became chair of the Open Society Foundations in 2023. Neither Soros nor the foundation immediately responded to the accusation, and no U.S. law-enforcement agency has announced an investigation. RICO statutes are typically used to target organized crime but can be applied more broadly to alleged coordinated illegal activity. Trump’s demand comes as he continues to criticize political adversaries and follows a Georgia case in which he and allies were themselves accused—then cleared—of violating the same statute in connection with the 2020 election.
