The Rocket Classic will be settled in a three-man sudden-death playoff after Chris Kirk, Max Greyserman and South Africa’s Aldrich Potgieter completed 72 holes tied for the lead on Sunday at Detroit Golf Club. All three contenders parred the 18th to force extra holes. Tournament officials opened the playoff on the 18th before shifting the second extra hole to the par-5 15th. Over the week Greyserman has played that hole in one under par, Kirk at even par and Potgieter at two-over, an early statistical guide to the showdown. Betting markets made Greyserman a narrow favourite at +160, with Kirk and Potgieter both offered at +200 as the playoff began. The Rocket Classic is the PGA Tour’s annual stop in Detroit and carries 500 FedExCup points and a winner’s cheque of roughly US$1.7 million.
