KIM IS A MAJOR CHAMPION! 🏆 Grace Kim wins the Evian Championship following a DRAMATIC play-off with Jeeno Thitikul ⛳️👏 https://t.co/12PpCyN9lp
Man....feel for Jeeno. There's losing out on your first major and then there's what Grace Kim just did to her.
Grace Kim captured her first major title at the Amundi Evian Championship, defeating Jeeno Thitikul in a sudden-death playoff on Sunday. The 24-year-old Australian trailed by four strokes with four holes to play, a point at which KPMG Sports’ performance model gave her only a 0.3% chance of winning. Kim then produced one of the most dramatic closing runs in recent major history, playing the final four regulation holes in four under par to match Thitikul at 14-under and force extra holes. Including the playoff, she covered her last six holes in seven under, highlighted by holing out for birdie on the first playoff hole after visiting a penalty area. The championship was decided when Kim drained a 12-foot eagle putt on the second playoff hole, while Thitikul could not match the score. The victory delivers Kim her maiden LPGA major and cements a breakthrough performance built on precision iron play and a steely putting touch under pressure.
