BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, has filed with the SEC to launch a new share class of its $150 billion money market fund that will be registered on a blockchain. This initiative uses distributed ledger technology (DLT) to store records of ownership for the shares, marking a move towards integrating blockchain with traditional finance. The product is not tokenized yet but represents a significant step in the adoption of blockchain technology by major financial institutions. Meanwhile, in the real estate sector, MultiBank Group, MAG Lifestyle Development, and Mavryk have partnered to tokenize $3 billion worth of ultra-luxury Dubai real estate assets, including properties like the Ritz-Carlton Residences and Keturah Reserve. This deal is considered the largest real-world asset (RWA) tokenization transaction to date and aims to provide global investors with access to fractionalized real estate assets that generate daily yields. The broader trend indicates growing institutional support for tokenization, with entities such as Deloitte and Citi backing the movement. Tokenized commodities have seen a 21% increase in total value locked (TVL) over the past 30 days, signaling expanding market traction for RWAs. Experts predict that by 2030, the commercial real estate market will largely transition on-chain, driven by the liquidity and transparency benefits of fractionalized token ownership.
