Nadezhda Rossinskaya, also known as Nadine Geisler, a Russian volunteer and photographer, has been sentenced to 22 years in prison by a Moscow military court on charges of treason and terrorism. Rossinskaya founded the women-led volunteer group "Army of Beauties," which provided humanitarian aid and helped evacuate approximately 25,000 Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war in 2022-23, including from combat zones and the Belgorod region in Russia. The court also imposed a fine of 320,000 rubles on her. Initially, Rossinskaya began by sheltering acquaintances fleeing war-torn Kharkiv in February 2022, an effort that expanded into a larger humanitarian operation. Russian authorities have designated her as a terrorist and extremist. The case has drawn international attention, with critics describing the charges as fabricated and highlighting her humanitarian work as the true basis for the prosecution.
