Recent reports highlight a surge in cyber threats targeting both individual users and government sectors. The malware SpyNote, BadBazaar, and MOONSHINE are reportedly affecting Android and iOS users through deceptive applications. Additionally, a new cyberattack campaign named Paper Werewolf, also known as GOFFEE, is targeting Russian government, energy, and media sectors using a sophisticated tool called PowerModul. This malware infiltrates systems via counterfeit Word and PDF files and deploys PowerShell malware, further utilizing Mythic agents for system control. Moreover, the Paper Werewolf threat actor has been identified as exploiting flash drives to distribute new malware. Authorities, including the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, have issued warnings about scammers using various pretexts to convince users to install malicious software that can steal personal data. Recent reports also indicate that telephone scammers are breaching personal accounts on the Russian government services portal, Gosuslugi, under the guise of offering health services, which could lead to unauthorized access to banking information.
