The Biden administration warned that Russia will be hit with substantial tariffs unless an agreement is reached within 50 days, White House Press Secretary Karin Leavitt said in a briefing on Thursday. Leavitt added that the United States also plans to impose secondary sanctions on companies and countries that continue buying Russian oil, tightening economic pressure on Moscow alongside the prospective tariffs.
