Debris from a Ukrainian drone brought down by Russian air defences ignited a fire on the roof of a multi-storey residential building in Rostov-on-Don early Wednesday, prompting the evacuation of 15 people, acting regional governor Slyusary said. No injuries were reported, and firefighters contained the blaze after several hours. The Russian Defence Ministry said its forces intercepted 26 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 15 over the Rostov region. Falling fragments damaged the roofs and facades of multiple residential blocks across seven districts, according to local authorities. The incident is the latest in a series of cross-border drone attacks that have reached deep into southern Russia in recent months.
