Club América came from behind to defeat Tigres UANL 3–1 on Saturday night at Monterrey’s Estadio Universitario, climbing to 11 points after five rounds of the Liga MX Apertura 2025. Tigres struck first in the fifth minute when Argentine midfielder Juan Brunetta finished from close range, but América turned the match around through a brace from Erick Sánchez. The 25-year-old midfielder equalised with a diving header in the 41st minute and put the visitors in front with a low drive from outside the box 17 minutes after the restart. América sealed the result in the 69th minute when Tigres defender Víctor Guzmán diverted a cross into his own net. The loss leaves Tigres on nine points and marks their first defeat of the campaign, although they still have a game in hand.
