Liverpool has officially confirmed the transfer of Uruguay striker Darwin Núñez to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal on a three-year deal. The transfer fee is reported to be around €53 million (approximately £46.2 million or US$61 million) plus add-ons. Núñez, who scored 40 goals in 143 appearances for Liverpool and was part of the squad that won the Premier League title last season, made an immediate impact by scoring on his debut for Al-Hilal. Following Núñez's departure, Liverpool is expected to renew their interest in Newcastle United's Swedish striker Alexander Isak. Isak has publicly declared he will never play for Newcastle again and has moved out of his Newcastle residence in an effort to force a transfer to Liverpool. Despite Liverpool's interest, Newcastle has stated that Isak is not for sale, and the club has rejected Liverpool's initial offer. Isak is reportedly focused on joining Liverpool before the transfer window closes on September 1, and the situation has created tension between the player and Newcastle United ahead of the new Premier League season.
